Looking for any information on Patrick McGinley/Maginly/McGenely (born abt 1813, Omagh?), Roseanna Kennie/Keenan (born 1805, Tyrone) and their children. John (abt 1828), Daniel (abt 1830), Arthur (abt 1834), Ann (abt 1834), Mary 1835, Terrence (abt 1840-42), Rosa 1844, and Sarah, 1848. John immigrated first abt 1850-51, then Daniel and Arthur abt 1857-59, then the rest of the family came to America in 1866. Tyrone and Omagh are from family stories.
Aslo found a Catholic Parish Marriage Bann 1742-1884 from Ancestry for a Patritium McGenely and Rosam Keenan, Nov. 23, 1826, Clogher, Tyrone. Hoping these are my Patrick and Roseanna. Any update on this would be greatly appriciated.

Here’s a link to the 1826 marriage that you have identified. In addition to the information you have given, I can add that the witnesses were Patrick & James Keenan and also that the couple were probably cousins since a consanguinity dispensation was obtained to enable them to marry. There are no parents names, occupations, townland (address) or other identifying information. That was normal at that time.

Clogher parish has marriage records staring in 1825. Unfortunately it’s baptism records don’t start till 1856, so I can’t confirm the childrens’ baptisms, nor whether they were born to this couple. (If records were kept, they have sadly been lost).
I searched the tithe applotment records for the civil parish of Clogher. These were compiled in 1827 and list those with land (ie primarily farmers). There are no McGinley or Keenan households listed which suggests your ancestors were farm labourers or tradesmen. Sometimes difficult to trace due to the lack of records.

I Believe this to be my family! John and his siblings came to the USA, most of the family ending up in nebraska, where they puchased land and had a homestead. John, son of Patrick, or what I found was (Patte) Which could of been his nickname for patrick, had kids with Mary (McKinney) Sheridan, who happened to be an Irish woman as well... from from County Donegal, Ireland, they both had a total of eleven kids! Most of them died and the name didnt contintue... or they had kids, but then they died and they either had children, or they didnt. Out of all of Patrick and Roseanna's children, John is the only one who has living Mcginleys too my knowledge. Out of John and his siblings the case is still the same. So out of John's children, It was his son william J McGinley who had kids with Claire, Then came Otto Mcginley, Son of William J McGinley and Claire, they had children but His son Terrance Patrick Mcginley and his siblings had children most are not alive, some could have had kids but they are unknown to me. Anyways Terrance Patrick got married with a woman named Karen. He then Divorced, then its said he had kids with two Different women, Now from there He had his one and only son, named Sean Patrick McGinley, Sean born in (1980- ) Still alive, and from him Was the last McGinleys Alexander Patrick McGinley, Deon J. McGinley, and Terrance L. McGinley. He now recently has recieved his fourth child from another woman named Bryan McGinley. I am son of Sean Patrick McGinley, Alexander Patrick McGinley. We are to my knowledge the last ones on the side of John that are still left. I recently took a DNA test and it revealed im 70% Irish, 5% English 5% Scottish 20%African-American. I wanted to get my Irish Citizenship but wasnt sure if I could so it made me search for answers. Someone get back to me.

Alex, Wonderful to meet you. I am decendant from Patrick's daughter Mary, John's sister. She is my 3rd great grandmother. There are still alot of living decendants from her side and infact I have dna matches to you and 2 other McGinleys (5-8th cousins). With Patrick having 30 grandchildren their may be hundres of us by now, maybe just not with the McGinley name. If you are on Ancestry, have you read the biography of John? Written by his daughter Fannie in 1941. As far as your dual citizenship, your grandparents would have to of been born in Ireland to get it. Sorry. I normaly only do direct line reseach, and rarely trace out cousin's, however if you ever need assistance, I am happy to help. Good luck in your search.

Hi Terri,
I also descend from Mary McKinley McGuire! Are you on ancestry? She was my 3rd great grandmother. Her daughter, Rosey McGuire Slattery, was my great grandmother. I'm going to Tyrone in March and would love to know more about the McGinleys and McGuires.
