I am looking for my great-great-grandmother, Rose McGuire. I have her death certificate, and this is what I know for sure:
- born 17 March in Ireland
- parents Michael McGuire and Anna McMannus
- married James Seery (b. 1866 in Ireland)
- lived in New Jersey
- had 3 children: Anna, James, and Mary Rose
- died 17 November 1926 in Essex County, Ontario, Canada
- buried 20 November 1926 at St. Alphonsus Cemetery
If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate having it!

Hi Lilybramble. I have many relatives named McGuire (mostly spelled Maguire) and McManus. These names are very popular in west County Cavan - usually the villages of Glangevlin and Blacklion and Dowra, AND also in adjoining County Fermanagh. Do you have any siblings or other kin of your Rose? I will do some checking, and let me know if you have more info. Slainte".

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, all I have on Rose is her parents, husband, and descendents. I know that her parents came to America also; I think they stayed in the New York/New Jersey area. My Mom says that she was told Rose came to Canada before coming to the US, but I know she died in Ontario and her children were born in New Jersey.
Our whole family got to spend two weeks in Ireland last summer. It was like coming home. I wanted to be able to take my mom to where her family came from, but I just couldn't track it down. (My dad's family is well-documented; we got to see where they lived.) I have applied for a grant that, if I get it, will allow us to return this summer.
I have a--perhaps odd--question. Is it presumptuous for someone who was not born in Ireland to use Irish words like "slainte?" I don't want to be a rude American, but I do love the little bit of Irish that I have picked up.
Again, thank you for your interest and your offer of help. This is so exciting for me!
