  • I searched Rootsireland for this couple but did not find them. You haven’t said what denomination they were but not all churches have records for the period you need ie baptism c 1808 and marriage 1820/1830s, and of those that do, not all the records are on-line, especially for Protestant records.

    The name Roddy is found on this site below. There were quite a few of them around Newtownards. You could get a researcher to go through the church records for that area. That would involve a trip to PRONI in Belfast. But without a clear idea of where in the county they lived it’s a bit of a needle in a haystack. The names are quite common and you really need parents names from a death certificate or other source to be sure of finding the right people.

  • There isn’t anywhere in Co Down named Adara. Nearest is named Ardarragh near Newry in Co Down. However I don’t see any McKee or Roddy households there in Griffiths Valuation c 1860, nor in the 1901 census. What’s the source of your information?
