I am looking for the townland in County Tipperary that my Great Grandfather Anthony Keogh was born in. Family tradition tells us that the name was originally spelled McKeogh. Anthony Was born in 1838 the son of Denis McKeogh and Bridget Hanley. He was one of 7 children and all immigrated to the US except for his father. His sister Ann married Festus King in Roundstone, Galway about 1855 and his sister Elizabeth married Steven Geegan,(Geoghagan) about the same time.
In the Griffith's valuation i have found a Denis McKeogh in County Tipperary North Riding the parish of Templeachally. Hanleys are also listed in this parish. In the 1855 Griffiths there is a Bridget McKeogh in Roundstone, Galway and Anthony's youngest sister Bridget was born in August of 1847 in Roundstone.
I am trying to confirm Anthony's birth in County Tipperary and find out where Denis might be buried.
Thanks,
Joe Keogh

Our volunteer has come back with the following:
I Have Checked Templeachally Graveyard & Ballina Graveyard but have come up with nothing so far. There are a lot of Mc Keogh families around but cant find a connection to Hanly's. I will keep trying and hopefully somebody will have some more info.

Joe, please contact me. In fifteen years, I have never found another Mckeogh researcher. Lets trade notes.

THE MCKEOGH FAMILY STORY
NORTH TIPPERARY AND BEYOND
BY MARY FITZGERALD
It traces the descendants of the McKeogh men who were living in the parishes of Ballina /Boher, Ballinahinch/Killoscully, and Newport/Birdhill when the 1664/1665 and 1666/1667 Hearth Money Rolls were compiled. It also includes a brief history of their ancestors. The writer is a descendant of both the McKeoghs of Labbadia Ballina and Grawn Ballinahinch.
It is available from:
