Hello I am searching for the records of birth/baptism and marriage of my 3x great grandparents John McLane born 1821 and Hannah McLane nee Murphy born 1819, both apparently County Mayo but I have nothing else to confirm this. Family trees on Ancestry suggest Mayo Leithrim and others County Mayo. I can find nothing to confirm this on LDS, Ancestry or FMP sites. John and Hannah would have been married in 1847, again no confirmation this took place in County Mayo. Children of the marriage were Patrick b 1848, Michael 1854, John 1856, Anthony 1860 all of which supposedly occurred in County Mayo then Hannah b 1864 in Wooler Northumberland after the family migrated to England and finally settled in Newcastle upon Tyne. The closest I have to evidence of the family being in County Mayo was information from Hannah's (1819) place of death (St Joseph's House-run by the Little Sisters of the Poor Catholic Institution, Newcastle upon Tyne) which states her place of birth was County Mayo. Her parents were William and Catherine Murphy. John's father was apparently Robert McLain.
Incidentally I have in my searches come across births and marriages that fit the names from Drum in Roscommon. I am a newby as far as Irish geography/history are concerned. Is this likely to be the case given Mayo and Roscommon are in Connaught? Please excuse me if I am incorrect.
With kind regards to all and thanking you in advance

Karen:
I have been searching the subscription site Roots Ireland and not having any success finding any records for your family. I have searched all counties in Ireland. It is possible that the marriage and baptisms occurred ina parish that no longer has records back to 1860 and earlier.
You mention finding records in Drum Co. Roscommon. Drum parish is in south Co. Roscommon. Can you share those records? Which site did you find the records?

Hi Karen,
Have you looked at all of the UK censuses for the members of this family? Two of the UK censuses that I looked at for one of the sons (Patrick) show that he was born in Co. Mayo.
If you you haven't checked all the UK records, you might want to look at all the birth/death/marriage records, censuses, burial records, headstones, newspaper obituaries, wills, etc. These might provide info that will help you when you go back to the Irish records.
I hope this is helpful.

Karen:
I found the Drum records you cited on the parish register. Not sure why the Roots Ireland transcribers did not pick up these records. Drum parish is not that close to the Mayo border so in my view I would hold these records as leads but likely this is not your John and his parents.
