I am seeking information about Michael McLoughlin and his family. Michael was the schoolmaster of the Roman Catholic in Kinsafad and Grange Townlands in Carrick in County Kildare in 1826. His wife’s name was Anne.

Michael’s son, and my ancestor, Valentine McLoughlin was born on 5 February 1827 and baptized 18 March 1827. He was baptized at the Church of Ireland church in Carbury, County Kildare. Valentine grew up to be a sailor and immigrated to Pennsylvania, USA.

Records from Pennsylvania indicate that Valentine had three siblings, but thus far I have been unable to find any record of them.

I am happy to share any information about the McLoughlin family that I have.

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and the only child of Michael McLoughlin that I located was Valentine. Roots Ireland has the C of I records back to 1805 so if the three siblings were baptized in that parish, the records should be available. I also did not find the marriage record. Possibly Michael McLoughlin was working in a different parish when the other children were born and Roots Ireland does not have records for that parish.

  • Thank you for searching! My quest continues. I'm not familiar with school masters in Ireland and how frequently / far they moved.
