  • Hi Colleen,

I am  volunteer administrator with the Bailieborough Co. Cavan website,  I can see the marraige for Bridget & Frank on Familysearch.org, they got married in Ireland, 6th Nov 1867 have you got that? If not contact www.rootsireland.ie & should be able to get a copy of that, that may give you a place for their marraige & hopefully previous address for them both, though, i know in my own searches may not be the place that the Mcquaids lived at time of Michael's birth.  I am taking a guess that Catherines surname is Lennon & the combination of Lennon & McQuaids  would indicate that the family is in Ulster.  I tried searching the census for 1901 at nationalarchives.ie but it may be too late for Michael & Catherine to be still be alive.

Best of luck in your searches & if you have any more info please let me know.

    Best Wishes Carmel O'Callaghan

  • Carmel,

After you sent me the message regarding Francis and Bridget McQuaid McGovern's marriage record on FamilySearch.org I ordered the microfilm from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, UT and found the original record which gave me the Civil Parish of Tehallan in Co. Monaghan. It also gave Francis McGovern's residence of Cornahoe.

Since then I have found my great-grandfather, Michael McQuade in the 1864 Griffith's Valuation in Cornahoe and his father Michael McQuade in the Tithe Applotment books of 1832 in Cornahoe.

Thank you again for helping me finally find a townland and linking all the clues together.
