  • Hello Barry,

I found an 1836 Castlejordan Catholic Parish baptism for Michael Byrne, whose father was Peter and whose mother was Catherine. The parents are just recorded as Peter and Catherine Byrne, though I'm not sure if Catherine's maiden name was also Byrne.

I also found the Castlejordan Catholic Parish baptisms for five of Michael's siblings, whose parents were Peter and Catherine Byrne.

With some further research I also found the Castlejordan Catholic Parish marriage for Peter Byrne and Catherine, which gives Catherine's maiden name as "Cunan."

If you think these records pertain to the Byrne's you are looking for, I can send you the records in a follow-up reply.

    Best Wishes,

  • Hi Dave, I'm embarrased to say that I've only just see your replies to my queries from ages ago. For some reason ireland-xo didn't notify me that I had replies and consequently I have only seen them now while reading your latest replies.

I hadn't used ireland-xo for a long time and pretty much forgotten about it, but I recently visited the Irish Centre in Liverpool and after asking if they had any family history classes, was told they didn't but was recommended to use ireland -xo, hence my recent posting re Richard Murphy.

The Byrne family I enquired about are from my mothers, side Jeremiah Byrne 1903-1978 being my maternal grandfather.

My mothers paternal side being Byrne and Delaney, maternal side McLoughlin and Bigley, all originatinating from Ireland at some point. Incidentally my great grandfather John McLoughlin 1883-1915 was lost in the Lusitania sinking and unfortunately he was never found or indentified as one of the recovered persons.

Thanks again for your help, it's always helpful to have someone else's input as it can be daunting trawling through so much info.

    Regards

    Barry.
