HI Everyone I thought I would try my luck on finding out some snippets on my above ancestor Michael BYRNE or any general information on his home?? etc.
Michael was tried in Athy, Kildare on the 23rd of AUGUST, 1797. Gaoled for two years (would like to find out where) and transported to NSW arrived January 1800.
He was listed as a 23 year old Cotton Manufacturer, born or from Kildare a political prisoner sentenced to 7 years transportation.
By doing research on Micaels brother William, I discovered that William was born in Kings Co. BRACKNAGH. This was from Williams attestation papers from the Royal Marines (very helpful). Other siblings are ELLENER and ROSETTA (Woodworth).
I know there maynot be too much in the newspapers re Michaels trial but I'm hoping that there may be a snippet or two from any/all British and Irish newspapers for the date 23rd August and onward.
Any information on Bracknagh in general would be nice to have as well. Early churches, burial grounds etc. I could not find a very old church in Bracknagh though (Catholic) so perhaps the family used/attended another church close by??? Anyway any snippets on Michael BYRNE would be wonderful. Many thanks Dianna from Aus

Dianna,
A search of Irish and British newspaper archives did not show any record of a Michael Byrne convicted and transported from Ireland to Australia c1800.
If you Google "Bracknagh" Co. Offaly you will find a RC church photo by Dr. Jane Lyons and also photos of the local graveyard and headstones.Taken in 2014.
Copies can be purchased from Dr. Lyons.
Best Wishes,
McCoy
