Good morning

I am researching Michael Farrell.  He was born abt 1788, possibly Thomastown.  He married a Margaret Walsh.  The only marriage I can find for these two is in Trinity Wiithout, Waterford so this may be where her family came from.  They had 7 children from 1827, all baptised in Danesfort.  Michael died in Kilree in 1865.  We believe his parents could have been Thomas Farrell and Alice Hogan but this is deducted from the dates and places and the names of their children.

Does anyone know more about Michael or Margaret?

Thank-you, Marnie.

  • Dear Marnie

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.

We have several volunteers in the County Kilkenny area who might be able to assist you with your query.

I will forward your query to them and they will hopefully be able to add further to your research.  Please give them two weeks to reply due to other commitments.

If you have any further information that you would like to share, please feel free to do so.

If you would like to create an ancestor profile for any of this family, you can do so at the XO Chronicles link at the top of the page.  You can include as much or as little information as you have.  Others will be able to read your profile and may be able to add to your research.

  • Hello Marnie.....my great, great grandfather was Micheal O'Farrell, born September 28, 1816. His parents were Judith Walle and Thomas Farrell of lower grange, grangesilvia (Goresbridge). All this information is from his diary which my cousin has,,,,,I believe his grandfather was likely Micheal also, as the O' added to a name usually means grandson of......He left Goresbridge on April 13,1842 and emigrated to Canada....his parents names are certain, as they are recorded in Canadian marriage records, and I have Irish records of Judith Walle's birth in Thomastown and further back on her side but am unable (so far) to identify any more Farrell's for certain. Please feel free to write back if this sounds at all possible,,,,also Farrell, Thomas is recorded in lower grange in the ordance Survey, Thanks Etufaye
