Michael Kelly,Longford Ireland

Are you sure that the Michael who married in Waterford is the same man who was born in Longford?  It would have been unusual for someone from a farming family in the 1850s to marry someone who lived so far from Longford.  People often married someone who was fairly local, even a neighbor.

 It would be helpful to know where you found the information  that Michael was from Longford.  Also, where did the names of his parents come from? (Parents' names on death certificates are not always reliable.)

What were the names of Michael and Catherine's children?

According to the death certificate and cemetery records for Michael Kelly’s Parents were listed as Michael Kelly and Margaret Murray mother.place of Birth Longford Ireland.

As Michael was only 57 when he died and his wife Catherine was still alive I assumed that she would of known who his parents were.

On the Birth certificates of the children the father Michael Kelly lists his place of birth Longford Ireland

Place and date of marriage 20th February 1859 Lismore Waterford Ireland ,Catherine Cunningham.

The children’s names are In Birth order “Michael Francis “ “,Catherine Elizabeth,” John James “ “ Margaret Lavinia”   Mary Ann” “Bridget Eleanor “and “Theresa Winnifred”all born in Bulla Victoria except for first son Michael born Melb.

           Note Catherine Cunningham parents     Father John Mother Catherine maiden name not known.                                          

                I have purchased all birth certificates for the children which lists above information.       Death certificates for Michael Kelly and his wife Catherine and also the children.hope this helps    .Thank you again for your help regards Faye
