I'm trying to trace my g g grandparents Michael Neylon and Margaret McMahon.  I have found 5 baptisms in Kilfenora with those names listed as parents from 1840-1846.  Of the 5, the daughter Mary could be one of the daughter I have found in the 1865 NY census.  They left Ireland mid 1850's I first find a record of them in the 1865 NY census living in Granville NY.  Michael died in 1880 in Granville and Margaret in 1896.

There daughter Anna Neylon arrived in the US about 1859 and married John Connors from Co Clare about 1868 and settled in Rupert Vermont.  It is said Anna was born in Ennis about 1845 but this I haven't confirmed  These are my g grandparents.

Most of my information was initially provided by 2 cousins as to names but that is about all.  I have dug up the rest.  I've been using Irish Ancestors site by John Grenham, Irishgenealogy.ie and NLI to try and track down my Irish ancestors.

Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hi Linda:

    Thanks for your post.

The Ennis parish records are available online for free at this site:  https://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/

You should also take a look at the Clare Library website which has a large variety of online sources and you can search by parish.  The link for Kilfenora Parish is here:  http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilfenora.htm

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

    All the best,

    Jane
