Hello!

I am interested in any information available for my great, great grandfather Michael Patrick Ahern and/or his wife Hanorah (Flynn). According to family records he and Hanorah immigrated to the United States and settled in Hartford Connecticut. According to an inscription on the monument Hanorah erected when Michael was buried, he was from Carrigtohill (although she spelled it Carrick Tual). He died November 19, 1888 at 75 years old. This places his birth at 1813. Notes from my grandfather also reference Ballintubber. I believe he/they immigrated in the early to mid 1850's but I am not certain of the exact time period.or where they arrived in the United States (although I tink it was New York or Boston). I have an ancestry tree and myheritage tree among others. Michael and Hanorah had atpossibly nine children. Three that I am certain of - John Alysious (1855-1930),  Nora (1854-1911), and Michael (circa 1860 to 1905). John and Nora were born in Ireland. My grandfather stated that John was one year old when he arried in the United States but I have not been able to find him in any immigration records. Other possible children born in Ireland include James (1840-1901), Ellen (1847-1907), Hannah (1852-1927), David (1856-1904), and Minerva (unknown dates). Attached is a picture of Michael

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Michael Ahern

  • Michael/Patricia:

Found two more possible children and the names match Michael's info but the first name of the mother is not Hanora.

Ellen Ahern baptized February 24 1849  father Michael Ahern mother Mary Flynn

Michael Ahern baptized April 1 1860 father Michael Ahern mother Abigail Flynn

Michael: If you have not done so already, you may want to scan the parish register for other records.

  • Patriia and Roger,

Thank you both for such swift assistance!! I will add Michael to the XO Chronicals site and review the Parrish records. I know my father and Aunt visited in the early nineties and found a graveyard that supposedly had ancestors buried but I have not found my fathers notes yet (he has since passed). Your information is very helpful!

    Sincerely,

    Michael Ahern
