Good day:)
a cousin's DNA test lists County Kilkenny as probable?location for ancestors.
Any Tobin researchers in our group, especially those whose families migrated to US( New York city area in 1840's +?
Michael Tobin had at least one son James B born in NYC area in 1862.Little else to go on.
seems to me anyone with access to Church records in NYC might be able to find him? Again, any help would be deeply appreciated. As a boy James B lived in upper east side in Yorkville?

Have you found James B. in the U.S. censuses? Do you have his other American records--church, birth, marriage, death, probate, cemetery, newspaper, etc.? Then have you looked at Michael's U.S. records? These records may give you info leading to Michael's place of origin in Ireland. Good luck,
Patricia

A James Tobin was baptized on 18 Feb 1866 in St. Patrick's in Newburgh, NY. Parents: Michael Tobin and Mary Dunphy. This info is from the NY Archdiocese baptismal records. Don't know if this is your James, but it could be.
