OK Problem is all I know is that he came over from Ireland as a young boy. Have no known siblings, and wife's name was given as a Mary Ellen Callaghan. BUt I have no BPM's to prove such. All I know for sure is he had at least one son; James Buchanan Tobin born ca 1862. Family lived in NYC and later Queens. James married Kate or Catherine Tobin ca 1885. Had many children:)

A cousin's Ancestry DNA file shows matches in Kilkenny. ANY help is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The subscription site Roots Ireland has 14 Michael Tobin baptismal records in Co.Kilkenny from 1831-1841. Only one had a father names James so if you assume that Michael named his son after his father then this record might be a lead. Hopefully, thru additional DNA matches you will get more leads regarding the origins of Michael Tobin.

Hi Jane :) There seems to be some connection between my Tobins in NYC and Long island area in the late 1800's on.

A mary Ryan paid for the burial plots for my ggrandfather James Tobin and his wife Catherine ( Kate) Tobin born the daugher of Michael Kelly and Maria Donohoe.

Do you have any Tobins in your family tree? Slainte'. Frank T
