Unsure of Miles origins / was in the United Stts by 1850. First known living in Syracuse New York where daughter Mary and Son Jams were born in 1851 and 1853. Then moved to Illinois (1855) and then Wisconsin before 1860. Have no info on what county in Ireland he came from. Wife was Bridget Handrick of Fells County Wicklow but unknown if married in Ireland or after emigration to the U.S. Ideas? Thank you. Randy McGraw

Randy:
Very likely Miles came from Northern Ireland. I don't see a Miles McGraw baptismal record prior to 1830 on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Have you considered a standard DNA test? Looks like you could also take a Y-DNA test but those tests are expensive and don't provide good info about matches back to the 19th century.

Thank you Roger. Miles could very well be from the north. On Griffiths valuation there are McGraws (spelled Magra). Taking the naming patterns, I am thinking Miles father may have been James and oldest daughter was Mary since the children were named that way. Thanks for your reply.
