Thanks to Sean 99 for information.  I do have all that you sent.  Patrick Mitchell's (1864) father was John and born ??  I do not have grandmothers name.  My father was Patrick John (1908-1952)who came to New Zealand.  I am trying to find all of the siblings.  I have names for 16 but my father told me he was one of 22.  A couple of them died and am not sure who else died other than Josephine early 1900's.

I have found Michael Bernard and Martin Joseph in New York and have contact with M.J's grandson.

Also found my name sake Monica in Dublin now deceased and have contact with her grandson Simon Flanagan in Brisbane. Australia.

My father came to New Zealand in 1939 as did his brother Francis (on seperate ships) and I would love to know how they left Ireland and in what boat to London to get to NZ.

Any help to find Patrick Snr's father John and his wife, where they lived and how many siblings Patrick snr had would be wonderful.  Have some information on my grandmother, Mary Fahy and her family but do not know where she died.  I take it to be Tuam.

    There was a Census taken in 1926 which was supposed to be released in 2016 to coincide with the anniversary of the Easter Rising, but due to now it appears it may not be released until 2026 unfortunately !!

    While that is a pain for Genealogists, it could be worse - the 1926 Census for N Ireland was pulped during WW11 and will never see the light of day !!

    The Census would show additional children born between 1911-1926.

    There is a birth record for a Patrick Mitchell dated FEB 1864, parents John Mitchell, Biddy Higgins in MOUNT BELLEW,GALWAY,IRELAND that could be the right person.

    I don't see an emigration record for him, but have asked a friend to check on Ancestry for me.

    I will post any further info I find.

  • My name is Joe Mchugh my mother was Susan daughter of Patrick and Mary  She was born in 1913 in Gurran Coyle outside Tuam Co galway. She had approx 10 brothers and 10 sisters Her mother Mary Fahy was from Gurran Coyle. My grand father Patrick and yours went to America to work he came home in 1899 and started his business he was matched to a Mary Fahy the first child born was named Mary born 1900 she married a Mr Emery and lived up to her90's only 3 of the siblings stayed in Ireland Tommie born in 1912 his family live around Tuam my mother Susan and the third Monica called Mona lived in Dub Laoghaire
