My wife's 2 Great grandparents appear to have come to NSW Australia from Ireland in the 1850s with a son William Bede Moloney born her in 1860. Both parents are listed on William's marriage certificate in 1886 with John's occupation being a Policeman. Many men came to NSW under a scheme to increase the numbers of police there so he may have been one in Ireland. Have a possible birth date for John of 1830.

Seeking any information about this couple

  • Hello there,

It seems likely that John Moloney is my ancestor. My great Grandfather was William Bede Moloney born in 1860.His father was a police officer and I have the police baton that has been handed down from William, to his son Edward, and from Edward to my father Ronald, then to me. In fact, that would mean your wife and I are related.

My understanding is that originally my ancestor came from Galway/County Claire area.

    Can we chat?
