Searching for information about Robert Montgomery, his wife Mary Ann (Patterson) Montgomery, and son Samuel Montgomery born in 1852 in Coleraine.

  • There are trees on Ancestry which place this family in Craigmore townland in Aghadowey parish. The censuses suggest they were Presbyterian (so likely Ulster-Scots origins):

    Griffiths Valuation for 1859 lists Robert Montgomery in Craigmore. He was farming plot 14 (57 acres) with some others including John Montgomery junior and John Montgomery senior. The Valuation Revision records (PRONI website) show him detailed in 1887, suggesting he might have died around that time. I can’t find his death though.

    Aghadowey Presbyterian has baptisms from 1855 onwards and Killaig Presbyterian in the same area has records from 1805 with a short gap. Both might be worth exploring for possible baptism records. There are copies of both in PRONI in Belfast. Personal visit required to view them. Don't think the records are on-line anywhere.
