Hi all!

I'm at an impasse as I chase  the parents of my great x 2 grandmother, Mary Robinson nee Morrissy ( 1838-1907, Prahran, Melbourne, Au). AllI know is from her death certificate which states that her father, John Morrissy ( 1810-?) was a farmer in southern ? Ireland and her mother was Mary Murphy ( 1811-?)  All I know is that they had at least two children, Mary and Catherine Malone nee Morrissy (1833-1880, Weatherstone, NZ).

I'm going to out same post across Wexford, Waterford, Cork , Tipperay and Limerick as well.

Mary and Catherine migrated to Port Phillip, Australia aboard ' the Statesman' on July 14 1852, the former as an indentured dressmaker to a Dr Solomon Iffla, a Jamaican-born doctor in the infant colony @ 20 pounds/m and the latter to a Mr Reynolds from the ship "Ajax' as an in dentured dressmaker. I'd appreciate any advice anyone can proffer about same. Mary ended up having 11 children (excl. 2/3 stillborn) to Daniel Robinson, Dark? lane, (London) Derry , Ulster ( 1809-1892, Prahran, Melbourne, Au), horse trader/ shipper, son of George and Mary McCombe Robinson, cooper . No record of any official  marriage in Victoria, Australia for Mary and Daniel Robinson has been located, although it states thgat they got married around 1856 as their eldest surviving child , Mary Isabella, was born in 1857.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and found a possible lead for you. I searched for baptismal records for children of John Morrissy and Mary Murphy across Ireland.

Catherine Morrisey baptized July 6 1828 in Knockanore RC parish Co. Waterford with parents John Morrisey and Mary Murphy.

Mary Morrissey baptized March 29 1835 in Ballyporeen/Templetenny RC parish on the Tipperary/Waterford border parents John Morrissey and Mary Murphy.

After Mary in 1835, the John Morrissey/Mary Murphy couple in Ballyporeen/Templetenny parish also had a Bridget 1838 James 1842 Margaret 1846.

So is it possible that John Morrissey and Mary Murphy moved north from Knockanore to Ballyporeen/Templetenny area and had four younger children after Catherine. Maybe all of these records have no connection to your Mary and Catherine.

    Have you considered DNA testing?
