I am searching for the family of my 2xgr. grandfather, Laurence Mulligan. He claimed Dublin as his home. Immigrated to the USA abt. 1850. Born approx. 1825. Died. 1876. This is all I know of him. I was recently linked via DNA to a person who has an ancestor named Agnes Mulligan. Agnes was born abt. 1847. I don't have any info on where she was born, but what I do know is that she married Laurence Morrin in Aug.1860 in Caragh, Kildare. On the marriage record the location of Halverstown is listed but can't tell who resided there, probably the groom? Their first child, Sarah, was baptised in 1862 in Nass. Second child, Michael, baptised in Eadestown, Kildare/Leighton in 1864. Other children are Laurence, Thomas, Mary, and Elizabeth.

I am trying to link Agnes to my Laurence Mulligan. Could someone lead me to resourses where I might trace the origins of Agnes Mulligan? Thank you.

  • Thank you, Miriam. This location in Kildare is very interesting to me. It appears that Dereens, Caragh, and Celbridge are not far from Lucan, Dublin? I have been focusing on Lucan as a location due to some family info. Could you please share with me the Parish in Lucan I would search via Griffith's so I can pinpoint that location? Or provide the names of the RC Parishes in that location that would have existed in the early to mid 1800's so I have other avenues to explore? Thank you!

  • Very helpful, thank you!  I wonder if there are Mulligans still in the area of Caragh? Would be interesting to make a contact.

I will keep myself busy with this information you provided!  Kim Bender
