My great great grandparents Patrick Edward O'Loughlin and Elizabeth (Eliza) Jane Mulqueeney, both from around Ennistymon, were married in 1857, the same year they emigrated to South Australia. It's been difficult to find definitive information about their pasts or respective ancestors, so I'd welcome any snippets or nuggets you may have? Thanks and regards, Neil.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:WXD9-HD6Z I found this emigration record for a Mulqueeney family from 1854, when a number of family members left together ,

Mulqueeney  male 11 years  19/3/1854 birth year 1843

Mulqueeney female  13 years               birth year 1841

Mulqueeney female 9 years                   birth year 184

Mulqueeney Honor 20 years                  birth year 1834

Mulqueeney Margaret 16 years              birth year 1838

Mulqueeney Mary 18 years                     birth year 1836

Mulqueeney Pat (ricia?)  female             birth year 1814

Mulqueeney Pat (rick?)  male                  birth year 1811   This family left County Clare and arrived in Adelaide departing from Plymouth England. I am wondering if the 13 year old female listed is Eliza Mulqueeney

  • Hi Eileen, thank you for your reply. The Elizabeth Jane you found is the right one. However, the Patrick O'Loughlin captured in your 1857 emigration record is a different, and younger O'Loughlin. Patrick and Eliza left Plymouth together aboard the Caucasian on 10/9/1857, arriving in Adelaide on Christmas Day. I don't have their marriage record, but it appears they were married in 1857 before emigrating. That marriage record would be helpful. They both arrived under the O'Loughlin surname. There are clues that Eliza's parents were Patrick and Jane, Patrick being born in 1820, apparently in Ennistymon. I've found it challenging trying to trace this side of my family, so all clues and hints are very much welcomed. Kind regards, Neil.
