I am a Dillon in the USA. I am looking on info for my 2 times greatfather. His Name was Martin Dillon born 7-15-1835. I think he was from limereck. His wife was Mary A'Hearn not sure were she was from in Ireland i would give a guess as the same town. born 8-1840. I can not make and sence out the the census i have seen here in america. Cences records state on different ones as Martin. Being Born in 1835 and one born 1861 Head stone reads in 1838. Imigrated 1863 do not know what month and can not find the ship he was on when he imigrated. Mary is either a A,hearn, or O,hearn. censed records birth cert and death certs have A.Hearn on some and O.Hearn on some. She imigrated in 1864. I did at one time find a website and did see Martin and Mary Being married Her name was A'Hearn Kicking my self for not saving that. Now i understant if the followed the name pattern then Martin's father would be Michael that is the Name of Martin's first son here in America. But who know if they followed the pattern.Martins first daughter name is Mary there second Daughter is Elizabeth. How would i begin to look for Them in Irish registery for marriage certs or there Mother's or Father's.

Civil registration of births and marriages started in 1864.
The subscription site Roots Ireland has a July 6 1838 baptismal record for a Martin Dillon in the St. John's RC parish in Limerick city. Father was Michael Dillon and mother Bridget Moriarty. We would need more information to confirm this record. Are you aware of the names of any siblings to Martin?
I think Mary Ahearn/Hearn was likely from Co. Waterford or possibly Co. Cork but there are far too many possibilities to be able to come up with a good lead.
Roots Ireland did not have a Martin Dillon marriage to a Mary Ahearn/Hearn. Very likely they married in America.
Any other clues? Have you considered DNA testing?

Thank you so much. I have nothing to go on except the info i have from censud records in America and one story that Martin and Mary came to America from Ireland He arrived first and she came a year later. Everyone that would know any info are passed away now. Yes i have taken a DNA test through ancestary. Not sure it shows up in Ireland anywhere and not sure how to incoroprate it.

Martin & Mary married 29 Jun 1863 St John´s, Limerick city, Limerick. Martin Baptised 7 Nov 1836, Fedamore, Limerick, Ireland. Parents Dennis Dillon/Dillane & Maria Burke.

No, not a relative. Just someone who has been researching Irish records for some years now. I started my research back in the mid 1980's, before the internet, for my mother, who, like you, had no one living to turn to. She, unfortunately, died before the Irish records for her family became publicly available. Helping you brought back memories of my mother so I was happy to do it.
