My Tobin Family in County Tipperary

You possibly  have seen the baptisms /births for children of John Tobin and Catherine Hayes - some are listed as from the Silvermines area and it seems it could be your family . Children listed Rhody Margaret Julia and Michael.

Taking Michael b. 1874 per family search as the youngest - there is a John Tobin and Michael Tobin  in the 1901 Irish census in Cooleen Kilmore Tipperary so this  is possibly a match for your Tobin family.

By 1911 Census John has possibly died and Michael has married

Suggest  you could get michael's birth cert from www.groireland.ie and it will possibly confirm that this is the correct family.

If you decide to do so the references needed are Birth Michael Tobin Nenagh registration district  Year 1874 volume 18 page 575. Also a photocopy of the entry in the register gives the same information as a cert and costs less.

Hi, Michael - so HAPPY to receive your comment.  My 89-year old mother lives with me and I just shared your news with her.  Mary Ellen Tobin Cusack was her grandmother, but sadly, she never got to meet her.  I would love to communicate with you and share anything we can.  This is so exciting!  Mary Ellen died in 1901, leaving behind 3 young children, the oldest of which was my grandfather, Edward.

Hi all,

I can see it has been a very long time since this post but I am new to this site and am reviewing threads which contain the name Guilfoyle as this is an ancestral name for me, tracing back to Borrisokane, Tipperary.  I have a 2nd great uncle, Patrick Guilfoyle who eventually made his way to Canada but this may have been via US (he was in Canada by 1881).

If there is any information available about Catherine (Kate) Tobin to help determine if it my Patrick Guilfoyle that she married, that would be wonderful!
