I am looking for any information about Charles O'Brien
He was born in 1832, in Waterford, parents Charles Jasper O'Brien and Mary Osborne. Wondering if there are any siblings
He married in New Zealand in 1873. I cant find any record of him leaving Ireland or entering New Zealand or any other country on the way prior to 1873
Could anyone help me with any details or where to research for information. I would be very grateful

You don't mention the religious denomination for Charles O'Brien. If he was Roman Catholic, records for Arklow parish start in 1817 and are available on the subscription site Roots Ireland. The only Charles O'Brien baptismal record in Arklow in 1832 was an October 23 1832 baptismal record for a Charles O'Brien father Charles but the mother was Eliza Browne. There were no O'Brien records in Co. Wicklow where the mother had a maiden name Osborne.
If Charles was Church of Ireland, no records would be available for 1832. The records start in 1877. Earlier records were destroyed.
Let me know if the record I located was correct and I will look for siblings.

Thank you Rodger
I cant get into where I saw this baptism and now wonder if I was looking at the wrong entry as it was 2010
He would have been Church of Ireland. Family history has his mother as Mary Osborne. Also family history which we have found since has him born in Waterford
When we visited Waterford we were too late on Friday to go to the office where they may have been able to help us and when we visited Cobb they were very unhelpful as a tourist ship had arrived and they wanted to help these people. So we continued our tour
This information will be of no use to you if the records dont start until after this date, so once again thank you. I will see if someone may be able to help with imigration. I did find a record at Port Arthur in the criminal log that might fit, but I still cant find him arriving in New Zealand

Have you tried DNA testing? You may get some matches on your O'Brien/Osborne line which may be helpful.

Thanks Rodger. Its actually my husbands family. His brother has had his DNA done. I will see if anything showed up there
Its now getting to the stage we need to have a DNA test done to find our ancestors
