Hi, I'm trying to find out if it's possible to obtain a birth certificate dating back to 1842 - 1843? I'm researching an Ancestor called Ann Larney born 1842 or perhaps 1843 in Dublin. Her father was Patrick Larney and mother Rosanna Moore.

    Civil registration of births did not begin in Ireland until 1864.

    I searched for baptismal records for Ann in all of Ireland and did not find one in the time period around 1842 with father Patrick.

    Let me know if you have any other information.

    Hi Roger,

    Thank you for your help. It is very difficult researching. I did find a Roman Catholic Parish Baptism in the name of Ann Larney at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin City dated 19th Mar, 1838 but it seems too early and doesn't have any parents names to see if it is correct. I have copies of her death certificate and marriage certificate that is where I worked out her birth to be 1842 - 1843.                 

    I'm enjoying Irelandxo.com very much and hope to return to Ireland one day.
