I am wondering if anyone can help me find my gggrandfather's parish.  His name was Dominick O'Dowd, born in or around 1827, his fathers name was John his mothers name was (?) I heard he was from County Sligo.  He came to the states in the 1840's, where he  married Mary Henery also from the county of Sligo, her Fathers name was Patrick and Her Mothers name was Margaret Roddy. Thank You, Kathy

  • Hi Kathleen,

    I searched borths baptisms on rootsireland.ie for Dominic O'Dowd with father John born 1827 + - 5 years in county Sligo and got 1 match - Dominic Doud.

    I went through all the parishes until I found it was Riverston Roman Catholic that baptism was recorded in.

    There were also an Anna and Honoria Doud baptised 1827 in Sligo with father John but neither was in Riverston.

    rootsireland also has the baptism of Mary Henory parents Patrick & Margaret born Sligo 1833 (not Riverston).
