Hello,
Looking for information on a Johanna Gorman, from Ballyporeen (I believe). All I really know about her age, is that she might have died in 1870. She was married to Edmund O'Donnell, and they had a daughter, Margaret Theresa O'Donnell in 1854 in Gorteeshal. The main information I am seeking, is finding out if she had a brother. From my family tree, an unknown brother possibly had a son, Edward O'Gorman, born in 1853. Edward married Hanora Hickey, b 1855. They had 9 children, including William O'Gorman, who was married to my great aunt. The other children were: John, Johanna, Patrick, Daniel, Thomas, Mary, and Hanora. So, I guess I am looking for the father of Edward O'Gorman--he is the missing piece in my tree. Another possible place where they lived is Clogheen.
I appreciate any information.
Thank you,
Donna Sheedy

Donna:
The subscription site Roots Ireland had a February 24 1884 marriage between Edmund Gorman and Hanna Hickey. The marriage was in the Clogheen RC church. Edmund was shown as being from Gurtishal and he was listed as 22 which would make his year of birth around 1862.Hanna was 20. The names of their fathers were John Gorman and John Hickey. Witnesses were Michael Gorman and Bridget Hickey.
I have not yet located the civil marriage record but the church record does show fathers names and ages.
Hope this helps.

Hi, real long shot & long story here! I have had absolutely no luck finding my O'Gorman's. My great granny - Isabelle (belle) Macdonald from west highlands Scotland married Edward O'Gorman, in Feb 1921, they had my grandad Angus Edward & returned to the west highlands. I think I have found their marriage certificate, listed in Hampstead London, BUT, her name on this is Beatrice! all the other data is correct, however, so I think this is correct. On the marriage certificate, Edward's father is listed as James O'Gorman Sgt Major. After a wee dig around I found a James with a son Edward, but he was born in 1906, which would make my great granny a massive cradle snatcher, as he would have been 16 on the birth of my grandad! I have found another Edward O'Gorman 1893, which seems more realistic, still 5 years younger than my granny! She never ever spoke about her husband to my dad! There was also a question over whether they were ever married at all,!
What I do know, is he was definitely born in Ireland (my dad thinks Dublin/surrounding areas) He seems to have arrived in the UK for the first world war. I think he was invalided out, and certainly, he is listed as having spent some time at my great granny's address in Acharacle. He is listed on my grandads birth cert as a butler, working at Ochtertyre house in Stirling. I assume that they met working for the 10th duke of Argyle as she was his chef /cook. I would be grateful for any information, however small, as I've carried this name around all my life hahaha.
