Gilchrist:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
You don't have to post in every county.
What religion were Patrick and Frances Gilchrist?
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and found one possibly lead in Granard Co. Longford. There is an 1841 RC baptismal record for a Frances Gilcriest with parents Patrick Gilcriest and Frances Geehan. No other records. Any connection?

Hello, Gilchrist. You could have put one post on the Ireland XO Community board as you didn't know which county your people were from.
You can delete posts by going to "My Profile" and select "Edit post".

Roger,
I thank you for your information. I will explore this lead further but am not hopeful as this birth was in 1841 which would mean Frances was having children over at least a 20 year span that may be a stretch for those days. Again, I thank you for troubling, it is most appreciating as I have been searching for many years for any link back to Ireland. We know from immigration and death records they came from Ireland, but which county has eluded us. Different members of the family were various counties; Clare, Cork, Galway, but to date our efforts have been fruitless, so casting a wider net to see if we can find the missing link.

Ken, women having children over a 20+ year timespan was common. If a woman married around age 20, she was likely to be still bearing children 20 years later if she survived. I have several female ancestors who did that. People tended to marry at a younger age pre-Famine than they did post-Famine.
