My 3 x great-grandparents were Patrick and Catherine (Cummins/Commins) Dwyer (O'Dwyer), married in Boherlahan January 31 1831.

Their children were:

William Dwyer (1832 - ?) married Sarah (Cunningham) Dwyer;

Stephen Dwyer (1834 - ?);

Anne (Dwyer) Lanigan (1837- 1897), my great-great grandmother, (may have born in Ballyine, Limerick but not sure, died Upper Maffra, Victoria, Australia);

 Bridgit Teresa (Dwyer) Gaffney (1846 - 1895);

Thomas Dwyer (? - 1885), died Toombon, Victoria, Australia;

Margaert Dwyer (? - ?).

Any assistance in locating where they were born, died, and marriages would be appreciated.

  • Hi Lano,  I found the marriage in Jan 31st 1831, in Boherlahan, on registersnli.ie.  The sponsors  Ins Daniel/O,Donnell

    Denis Quinlan, Denis Dwyer.  The address given was Clonoulty, which tells us Patrick Dwyer was from Clonoulty.

    The name Comins/Commons also enumerated as Coman in the area.

    Did  you find them on a shipping list to america.

    Let me know how you get on.

  • Thanks Christina.

    I think most of my 2 x great-grandmother and her siblings came to Australia.

    William, Anne's older brother, I think stayed in Ireland.

    William's son, Stephen, came to Australia as well, and lived near Anne, so they would have known each other.

    I have no record of Partick and Catherine leaving Ireland, as yet.

    But I know that Stephen's two sisters Mary and Anna Dwyer were nuns and lived in Indiana, America.

    I really appreciate your website as it has given me hope of finding all my Irish ancestors, and thanks again for all your help.

    I look forward to continuing the search.

    Regards,
