    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The baptismal records for the Lattin/Cullen RC parish start in 1846 so if your Patrick was baptized in that parish around 1842 likely a record is not available. Do you know his parents names and the names of his younger siblings? Possibly we could locate a record for one of the younger children. Also, if the parents were married in a nearby parish (parish of the bride), we may be able to find a marriage record.

You may want to add Patrick's emigration story to our XO Chronicles site and possibly someone will see a connection  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

    Have you considered DNA testing?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

His marriage certificate (held Highgate London in 1878) states his father was also Patrick Collins and his occuaption was a Clerk. Not aware of his Mother's name or any siblings.

His London Police Pension details state his DOB as being 21/08/1842 but going by his age on the wedding certificate (31) he would have been born in around 1847.

He joined the Police Force on 13th Sept 1875 and stated he had 10 Years prior service in the Army. I am not sure which Force he belonged to so I guess the earliest I can confirm he moved over to England is 1875.

I have undertaken DNA testing but have not had any connections so far linking to the Collins family.

    Any tips/suggestions most welcome.
