looking for information about ancestors Patrick Deveney b @ 1830 possibly in Gort, Galway. He married Winifred Hood d 1866 in Gort Galway
We are hoping to travel to Ireland in 2020 for our 50th wedding anniversary and would love to learn more about our Irish ancestors and hopefully visit the area they were from

Chris, I am looking at older queries and there have been a number of ones for Gort, the parish records start late, 1848 for baptisms and 1853 for marriages so it is a brick wall.
It is probably too late now anyway but hope you enjoyed your trip, it may interest you that there are a few private Galway Facebook groups if you are into Facebook but most people are stuck at the same time as others in the area and you hope to meet someone with some family history.

Thank you for your post. Covid did scratch that 2020 trip, but we had the wonderful opportunity to be in Ireland this past September (4 years after our 50th!). Had a wonderful time and had the opportunity to visit sites of 2 of my husband's ancestors: Kennedys of Ballyneall Co Tipperary and Morrisseys of Gowran Co Kilkenny. It was a magnificent trip. Hope we get to come back to your wonderful island!
