Looking for any informaiton about my Great Grandfathers family. He was born in April 1845 and died in San Francisco in 1913. His Mother was Margaret Donnelly and his Father was Patrick Winter.
He may have also come from County Clare or County Cork.
He was married to Catherine Gallacher in Scotland and had one sone Thomas Patrick born 10/13/1869 in Glasgow. Catherine passed away and he then married my Great Grandmother Margaret McMahon (or McMeighan, or McMann). They had seven children all born in San Francisco, CA.
Any informaiton would be appreciated.

Dear Sarah:
Thank you for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.
What makes you think that your ancestor might have come from County Clare? I checked the 1901 Census of Ireland and noted that there were two Winters individuals who lived in West Clare. The link is below:
I also searched in County Monaghan for a Patrick Winters but was unable to find anything that matched your search. There were Winters families--one located in Clones and the other located in the Drumully-Currin parish. It is important to note that many County Monaghan parish registers did not begin until the mid-1800s.
If you have any other information that sheds further light on your ancestor such as naturalisation records, a death certificate or ay other document, please let us know.
Alternatively, you might consider creating an ancestor profile for Patrick and the photo that you have shared here would be ideal to use. It is a great photo and might attract some interest from others researching the same family name. Please note that my searches did not bring up anyone listed with the surname "Winter", but the surname "Winters" did.
The very best of luck with your research.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Dear Jane,
Thank you for this information. My Grandmother Mary Agnes (Mae) Winter Scatena said her family was from County Clare and County Cork Ireland. I'm not sure which grandparent was from Cork and which was from Clare. I do know that my Grandfather spelled his name Winter, not Winters. I have found a Patricum Winter on the Ancestry sight. I have read that Patricum was also the name for Patrick. Patricum Winter was in the Catholic Parish register from Limerick 1837-1881. My Grandfather was born in 1845. I also read that a fire destroyed most of the birth records in County Clare around the same time of his birth. I do have a document from the National Records of Scotland that was from his marriage to Catherine Gallacher. This document states that his father was Patrick Winter and his mother was Margaret Donnelly. Unfortunately my Grandmother burned the family bible when my Grandfather died and the part that had the Winter Family history was destroyed.
I am attaching 2 documents one regarding Patricum and the other is the marriage registration.
The marriage document has been verified but the one regarding Patricum has not.
Thanks you again for all your help.
Sincerely, Sarah
Winter

Dear Sarah:
Thank you for the followup email with the two attachments. Do you know what register that Patricum Winter Ancestry record is from? Is it Limerick? If so, I will forward this post to our Limerick City volunteer who may be able to further assist.
You may also consider creating an Ancestor Profile for Patrick Winter on the XO Chronicles website. I know that I had mentioned this in a previous post. Please let me know about the Ancestry record and I will try to follow up.
Kind regards,
Jane.
