Looking for information on my great grandfather, Patrick Henry McMahon named in the title above, born in County Monaghan... His father was Ardle Arthur McMahon and his mother was Catherine Martin.
Patrick had sister, Mary Catherine McMahon born in Ireland in approximately 1859, who emigrated to the US around 1887. He also had a brother, Ardle (Addie) McMahon who was born 11 June, 1866 in the Townland of Tattygare, County Monaghan; baptized 21 June, 1866. (Possibly in Castleblaney, County Monaghan).
There is a possibility that Patrick also had another brother named James, born about 1862, died September 1927 in Castleblayney. James likely did not emigrate from Ireland.

Search for Ardle McMahon & you'll get 3 records all from Tyrone 1829-33; similarly, Griffiths Valuation has 2 in Armagh (1864) & 2 in Monaghan (1861) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/. These records will show you where they were at that time
No luck with birth, marriage or death records for Ardle I'm afraid

My thanks to ColCaff for the time spent on research for me. I truly appreciate it. It appears that our great grandfather Patrick McMahon remains elusive. Some day, we'll find him...

Tom,
A Fist to The Black Blooded (The Mac Mahons of Coas) by Hugh MacMahon, published in 2015 by Original Wtiting Ltd Dublin tells the story of three Mac Mahon siblings and their involvement in the Irish War of Independence. There is a chapter on the Mac Mahon Heritage in the book. Coas is a townland in the Parish of Aughnamullen East and is within a mile or two of Tattygare. (P. of Muckno/Castleblayney) The author's grandfather was also named Ardle Mac Mahon. The author or his cousin Brian MacMahon of Sutton Co.Dublin may be able to help you in your search.
