I am trying to find if possible, the names of the children of Patrick O'Connell b, 1746-1824 and Honor Callinan b. 1756-1811. I have a few names but most seem too old for Honor to have given birth to them:
Jeremiah b 1790
William b 1790
Honora b 1798
Morgan Patrick b 1815
Michael b?
Anthony b ?
probably at least one or 2 daugthers and sons that are not "known" I would guess.
Thank you

Hi Desiree,
I don't know how I missed this. I am researching O'Connells from Clare/LImierick
I believe Patrick is my 3x great-grandfather. I too am trying to find out about Patrick's children.
I have:
Anthony (?)
Jeremiah (?)
Michael (1782-1870)
William (1790-1887)
Honora (1798-1872)
I am descended through his son Michael. Also, I am in touch with someone who descends from William.
Hoping someone from Ireland XO can help us out! There are so many O'Connells!

This is great Paddy! Thank you so much.
Any advice on finding more info on Patrick and his brother Peter?

Wendy, if the Peter to whom you refer is the famous lexicographer Peter O'Connell, then there has been a great deal written by him and about him, in both Irish and English.
The most extensive biography is in:
Ní Dheá, E. (2000). Peadar Ó Conaill, scoláire agus scríobhaí (1755-1826), in C. Ó Murchadha (ed.), County Clare Studies: Essays in Memory of Gerald
O'Connell, Sean Ó Murchadha, Thomas Coffey and Pat Flynn, The Clare Archaeological and Historical Society, pp. 137-149.
Ní Dheá cites `cnuasach ghinealais' written by O'Connell in RIA 23 H 22, which may or may not give details of his own genealogy.
Other sources include:
`Peter O'Connell' by Brother Seán McNamara in Living on the Wild Atlantic Way, 2017, pp. 350-1 (with further sources listed in a footnote on p. 600); `The man who put Tom Moore off history' by Mannix Joyce, Sunday Press, 19 Aug 1962; `Eugene O'Curry and Thomond: II' by Mícheál Ó hAodha, Irish Times, 31 Jul 1962; `Death Sails the Shannon' by W. MacLysaght (The Kerryman Ltd., 1953); Sunday Tribune, 24 Feb 2002; `Peter O'Connell: Scholar and Scribe 1755-1826' by Dermot F. Gleeson in Studies: An Irish Quarterly Review, Vol. 33, No. 131 (Sep., 1944), pp. 342-348 (7 pages), Published by Messenger Publications, available at
https://www.jstor.org/stable/30099510
Also Life Sketch of Peter O'Connell by Michael Twomey at
https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4922318/4869535/4932004etc. etc.
Unfortunately the various sources sometimes disagree on the details of the O'Connell family.

Thank you Paddy. Indeed, I am referring to my 4th great-uncle, Peter O'Connell, the lexicographer.
I am enjoying the stories in the https://www.duchas.ie/ collection very much. I may not be finding much about my O'Connells but am learning so much about the times. Thanks for sharing these!

Wendy, do you have info for the children of Michael O'connell? I am trying to figure out a daughter or granddaughter of Patrick and Honor O'Connell. This girl would have married a man with the last name Taylor at some point. Michael may not be the child that this girl decends from - could be one of the other children of Patrick and Honor. Have you done DNA at either Ancestry or My Heritiage, because I wonder how it would show how my Dad relates to you? If you would like to reach me directly, my email is dm1girl@cox.net Look forward to hearing from you.
