  • Ken:

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located baptismal records in the Loughrea RC church for Bridget Gilchreest baptized April 18 1854 with parents Patrick Gilchreest and Mary Keighry and Thomas Kilchreest baptized November 7 1851 with the same parents. Did not know if these could be your ancestors and I recognize the seven year difference in age for Thomas.

If the family was actually from the parish of Clonfert, no records will be available because the records for that parish start in 1858.

I will look for other records later and get back to you.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland but did not find the Bridget Foley/Patrick Kilchreest marriage in 1850 but if they married in Clonfert church no record would be available.

I looked for Patrick Graney/Grany baptismal records in Co. Kerry. I found one record in 1826 but there was no record in 1857 but there was an 1850 record. The age on the marriage record may not have been accurate.

Patrick Grany baptized January 1 1826 in the Causeway RC parish in Co. Kerry. father Richard Grany mother Ellen Connor

Patrick Graney baptized April 6 1850 in the Duagh RC parish in Co. Kerry father Patrick Graney mother Mary Sullivan

Drumcliff RC parish in Co. Clare is the parish of Ennis. The only Susan O'Brien record I found was for a Susan Jane O'Brien baptized August 30 1864 with father James O'Brien and mother Honora Foley.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Jane,

I have sent an email to your gmail account.

    Roger,

I appreciate your searching the Roots site and agree with your suggestion that the age on the marriage record may not be accurate. This would probably not be the first time this has happened.
