  • Hi Ric, welcome to Ireland Reaching Out. I could not locate a suitable birth for Patrick Lawrence Maguire, there are some Patrick Maguire births in Drogheda and nearby parishes, however the parish of St Mary's south of the Boyne river only has church records (RC) starting 1836. There is one is Stamullen about 5 miles south of Drogheda and one in Termonfeckin a few miles east of the town, without a parents or both parents name it is not possible to identify the correct one, the Lawrence part does not show up on Roots Ireland a subscription site but that is not unusual as the second Christian name is often not transcribed. Some of the baptisms on Roots are not on the offical registers put on line by the Nationa Library and I was only able to check the Termonfeckin entry and the name is just Patrick, father Richard. The entry for Drogheda gives

    Name:  Patt Maguire

     Date of Baptism: 21-Mar-1831

    Parish/District:  DROGHEDA

    County Co. Louth

    Denomination:  Roman Catholic

Father: Rich'd Maguire  Mother: Catt Givney

    Informant 1:  Marg Kelly

There are more if you include the outlying areas but this is probably St Peter's Parish, north of the Boyne in County Louth in the Diocese of Armagh. (Armagh is also a county)

Caveat here is we have no baptisms for St Mary's at that time so comes with health warning.

If looking for actual living relatives you could try two private Facebook pages, Drogheda Down Memory Lane - Lost Families and Drogheda Old Photos & Family Roots Finder and there is also a Louth Genealogy Facebook page, along with other Drogheda pages.

There are some interesting webpages locally too, see http://jbhall.clahs.ie/ and http://www.termonfeckinhistory.ie/index.html

By the way you posted in Fermanagh rather than Louth.

    Good Luck

    Pat
