Our greatgrandfather Patrick Moloney was born in Woodford on 15 April 1838 and his marriage record (1869, Oakland, California) stated that his parents were Michael Moloney and Julia Murphy, (His first daughters, twins, were named Julia and Catherine after his and his wife's mothers, which is a kind of confirmation.) He had a sister named Mary (b. May 1846) who married an Army man named Charles Hutscheck in the US.
Researchers at the Woodford Heritage Center were not able to find any records of this family. When Patrick emigrated to the US in 1855 (saying he was 21 when he was actually 17) and enlisted in the US Army, he said he was a shoemaker.
Patrick has many descendants in the Portland, Oregon, and Spokane and Seattle Washington areas. His sister Mary's children both died young. We hope someday to find some records of Michael Moloney and Julia Murphy in the Woodford area.

Hi Anne
I am the new Parish Administrator for Woodford Parish. Back in the 1830s it belonged to the civil parish of Ballynakill. Being from the now parish of Woodford myself,I searched almost every townsland in Woodford but found no Moloney. I searched under the following website on Google's "The national Archives of Ireland/tithe applotment Books" but couldn't find a single Moloney (which is not correct as I remember Moloneys in Woodford myself.)
What I'm saying Anne is could you find out which townsland in Woodford your ancestors came from?
Message me back with any other details you have and we will take it from there
Kind regards
Therese
