Looking for any info. on the above relative, born April 3rd 1800, immigrated to USA 1816 or 1819 from county Carlow, parish, Bagsneltown. Little info on those who left in the early 19th century. I must assume he came as an indentured servant to USA, but not sure. Patrick, started my fathers family tree in the US. He died in 1890 in Lincoln, Calif. No info on his family or why he immigrated since this was well before the disasters of the 1840's. Married a Mary Mehady, born 1814, who passed away in 1863

As you probably know there is very little information for that period. I am wondering where you got Patrick's date of Birth? If he was Roman Catholic and baptised in Bagnalstown, Co Carlow their records only commenced on 1st January 1820. You would get his father's name on his Marriage cert to Mary Mehady as they would have been married in the US do you think? It is possible he married at 18 or 19 and emigrated immediately, especially if he was a younger son and had no prospect of inheriting his father's smallholding, if they were farmers. It is also a probability that his first born son was called after his father, as that was the tradition.
