Hello I am having on elast try at finding any info. re Marriage childrens births or specific townland
Patrick Quinn and Mary Ryan had 3 children in Tipperary or maybe elsewhere even . Their third child ...Thomas was born 1858 in Tipperary before they came to South Australia the same year. Previous to that they had Edmond/Edward , about 1852 and Bridget 1857........I have only found Thomas birth in catholic registers, but does not give a townland, it only says ....Tipperary, Tipperary. Would this mean he was born somewhere in the town of Tipperary itself?
Any thoughts /advice much appreciated

The church would have been in the town of Tipperary but it is possible that the Quinns lived outside the town in one of the surrounding townlands. I also searched on FindMyPast and did not see the baptismal records for the two older siblings. They may have been married in another parish which does not have records for the 1850s. I also did not find a marriage record.

Thankyou very much Margot and Roger for your replies....every little piece of info is a great help.Enclosing the page from the Cathloic register where I found Thomas,s birth
Were there many catholic churces in Tipperary town itself around 1850? Just wondering if any church may hold any more information regards the family ?
Many Thanks ....Goldie

In Griffiths Valuation there is one Patrick Quinn in Tipperary Town, this is in 1851.
Griffith's Valuation (askaboutireland.ie)the townland stated in GV is Carrownreddy.
If you zoom into this map it's the road that St Michael's Church is on.
More than Likely the road was renamed.Carrownreddy Townland, Co. Tipperary (townlands.ie)

Thankyou so much for going to the trouble for me. I am going to claim the Patrick Quinn named in the GV and living in Carrownreddy as "mine" All seems to fit as he is the only one by that name around that time , and when they arrived in South Australia ,its stated Tipperary, Tipperary. Maybe they had moved from elsewhere when earliest children were born, but after 25 years of searching have not been able to find their births or a marriage . On one birth here in Australia the mother,s name is given as Margaret Ryan instead of Mary Ann, but I always thought that was a misprint, maybe she changed her name somewhere along the line ....Probably never know for sure
Thanks again. Best Wishe Goldie

Their address would have been, Nelson Street, Carrownreddy, Tipperary Town, County Tipperary.

Thank you Margot.....I actually had them as living in Nelson Street Tipperary Town many years ago ,but was not certain , but with your help I can see that is more than likely ,and its fascinating to pin point their exact spot. As you say the earlier children were probably born elsewhere, especially as I have not been able to find a marriage for parents in Tipperary Town . They came to Sth Aust in 1858 and a few years later built a house which still stands today, with of course modifications
I will now try to find a marriage etc. ....It never ends !!

Hi Margot.....No the house they built did not have any name on it , pity as that might have left a clue of sorts. Sending picture of the house ,all around the area are very expensive homes now ,only short distance from Adelaide City area. Also sending piece from a local newspaper of the death of Patrick and Mary Quinn,s son Thomas with some interesting facts, however after much searching I have not found any reference to this story in Irish or English papers. Cheers Goldie

Thanks Goldie for the records.
Is the "L" in both sons names Leo?
I have seen their trees.
I will look for shipwrecks.Margot

Hi Marot....Yes the "L" in the son,s names is Leo, and I do have a fair anountof info. of Thomas Quinn,s family in Sth Australia
I have never found any thing about a shipwreck , thought maybe it was on the ship they left Ireland on to get to Liverpool, but
have searched for anything pertaining to that also . Of course they were all british subjects back then,so no records exist for arriving in England
Still with your help I am happy to now to be confident that I have found where they lived in Tipperary Town , at least in 1858
Such a pity about all the records lost in Dublin fire .
Best wishes Goldie
