Peter Higgins b. 1860 Roscommon

I can't edit my post above, apologies.  I am looking for info on John Higgins, father of Peter.  I have all information available (I think!) on Peter, his son who was my G Grandfather and so on.  I have various DNA matches who all go back to Roscommon, too.  A Michael Higgins, also a Farmer and possibly married to a Maria / Mary Mannion.  A John Higgins who moved to NY and married a Bridget/Bessie Lavin (parents Dominic Lavin and Margaret Towey) and a Patrick William Higgins who was born around 1850, Frenchpark, moved to Monmouthshire and whose father was also named Michael Higgins, a Farmer but unsure if it's the same one as above.  

The Michael Higgins, farmer who married Mary Mannion, had a daughter called Mary Higgins of Ratra parish and married a Thomas Lavin (s/o Manus Lavin).  Most of her children moved to St louis, Missouri.  

(In case any of that helps with location given they are all fairly common names). 

It appears that your Higgins family is from an area where the RC records start after 1860 and there are six in Co.Roscommon that fit the profile. Most likely it would be Frenchpark where RC records start in 1865.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings for Tibohine civil parish which includes Frenchpark has 40+ Higgins records including three john records.  https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/roscommon/tibohine.htm

Are you aware of any younger siblings to Peter? I'm looking for any born 1864 or later so we can look for a civil birth record which will allows to try and confirm the townland?

Hi Roger, thank you for your response.  There was a rumour of a Thomas Higgins, brother to Peter and in Stockport but although I've found many candidates I've not pinned down anyone specific. Some online trees have Peter's parents as John Higgins and Anna Madden but I can't find any proof.  They seem to have had a Peter in 1862 and another one in 1864.  Mine states consistently in the various Cenus he is born in 1860.  (I know they are often inaccurate with exact year of birth but he's consistent if he's wrong!)
