I know my grandfather Peter James Scanlon came to Maine and was married to Agnes Helen McDonough (also born in Galway-1877) in 1904. His parents were Patrick Scanlon and Mary Griffin and lived in Galway. The other children were Margaret, Catherine, Mary, Delia, Barbara, Patrick and James. I have not been able to find any more information about this Scanlon in Galway.

First link is the civil birth record for Peter in July 1874. They lived in Rossaveel townland in Kilcummin civil parish. There were many McDonagh families in Rossaveel and I believe the second link is the birth record for Agnes. The third and fourth links are likely the 1901 and 1911 census records for Mary Griffin Scanlon in Tonacrick townland in Kilcummin civil parish. Patrick had died before the 1901 census.
Let me know what else you need.

Hi All, I am also searching for a MARY GRIFFIN, from Galway, who came to New Zealand in 1878 on ship "Wellington", as a General Servant, aged 25. Since these are the only details from the shipping record, I am looking for the rest of her family back in Galway. She wed John JONES in Oamaru the same year.
Beryl, New Zealand.

Do you have any details on Mary's parents? Siblings? Finding a Mary Griffin born around 1853 is easy. There are over twenty born around 1853 in Galway but which one might be yours??
