My paternal great great grandfather was Michael Moroney. He married Mary Costelloe. They married on 15 July 1823 in Cashel Parish church. She was from Cashel and he was from Tipperary town. Both of them were born around 1800 but I can't find where they were born or their dates of birth. I've no idea if he was born in Tipperary or not and similarly with his wife, whether her family was from Cashel. Has anyone else got these two in their family tree?

  • Tina,

Did they stay in Ireland or emigrate? What were their children's names? Parents' names? Do you know when they died? Who were the witnesses at the marriage? Any little bit of info might help. Thanks.

  • Tina,

The baptism and marriage records for the RC parish of Cashel began in 1793. I looked for their baptism records, and only came across one for a Mary Costello in 1806...there's no way to know if it is the correct one though. There is something written in Latin at the end of their 1823 marriage record that I cannot decipher.....I'm not sure if it pertains to them or to their witnesses. Perhaps someone else on this site can be more helpful. On the Ancestry site, the few family trees that there are only have their son Patrick (1834) listed, but a further search on that site shows they had three daughters as well: Joanna (1825), Mary (1831), and Anastasia (1836).

    Regards,
