In April 2016, I posted a message about an Address that was presented to my grandfather, James Joseph Pluck (born 1873) by the Galway Branch of the Young Ireland Society before he left for Australia in March 1886. Unfortunately, no one was able to help me with that. The Address contains a portion of a poem which is shown in the attached file. I wondered if anyone recognizes this poem. I would love to know where it was taken from and who the poet was.

  • Dear J Tolhurst:

Thank you for your post and for the attachment.  I will pass this onto several of our Galway volunteers to see if they can shed any light on this.  In the meantime, you might add this along with an Ancestor Profile of James Joseph Pluck for others to view.  You can create an Ancestor profile by clicking on the XO Chronicles Tab at the top of this page.

Good luck with your research and many thanks for your interest in Ireland Reaching Out.

    Kind regards,

    Jane
