Hi Jan,
Thank you for your message. I hope that someone with information on James and his family makes a connection with you.
Do you know what year James was born in? If you do you could look up civil records of his deaths using his birth year as a way to determine which record is relevant to him. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

With regards to James and Alice?s mothers? names, you will most likely need to find their birth record. Unfortunately, civil registration did not begin until 1864 so their birth would have been recorded by the local parish church which means that you really do need to know where they were born. As they were married in Tramore Catholic parish it is likely that this is where Alice was from as weddings generally took place in the bride?s parish of origin. Using the Irish Times website you can see that records in the parish are available from 1798-1911:
Copies are available from Waterford Heritage Genealogy Centre, however a fee may apply to get this records. Here is their email: mnoc@iol.ie Alternatively, you could try writing to the local parish priest for possible assistance.
Do you have any idea where James may have been born? There are a couple of places where you could try searching online:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
You could also try looking in newspaper archives to see if you could find an obituary or death notice for James. http://www.irishnewsarchive.com/ have some newspaper archives available online. Waterford Library also have an online newspaper archive:
http://www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/en/localstudies/newspapers/newspapersonline/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/waterford/index.html
Ireland Genealogy Project: http://www.igp-web.com/waterford/index.htm
I hope that this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
