Thanks for the information Brendan. Looking forward to hearing more. i.e how did you connect this Edward Connolly to my grandfather?? 140 years ago is the correct year of birth according to US census information and the Ellis Island arrival information that I have found. I am excited about hearing more.

I sent my initial query several years ago. I never received the documents Brendan mentioned in his reply. I have since found that Edward (my grandfather) parents were Edward Connolly and Mary Lyons. ( I was able to get their names from my grandfather's marriage certificate). Year of birth for my grandfather I am pretty sure is 1873. He emigrated to NY in 1893. Arrived on June 5 1893 on the Umbria. Married Celestine Tiesche in 1904. They had five children: Edward (my father) in 1905, John in 1906, Joseph in 1908, Thomas in 1911 and Louise in 1915. I would love to know where my grandfather is from in Ireland. Hoping to visit once we can travel again.
Thanks much
