I've heard that parts of Roscommon used to be in Mayo. Is this true? I've had trouble locating my ancestors from Roscommon. Maybe I need to look in Mayo?

Hello MK, I had read that recently on a Facebook genealogy page but it is always a good idea to search nearby counties as there are civil and religious parishes etc, it is not unknown for a bishop to move townlands from one parish to another to help sustain income in a poor parish or for a parish to cross over two counties etc, you can get a view of the civil parishes on the site https://www.townlands.ie/ religious divides may be somewhat different etc.
