My 2 x great-grandparents are William Salter & Agnes O'Neill. William was born abt.1795 but place is unknown and Agnes was born abt.1801 in County Wexford. They married abt.1828 at Castlecomer, Kilkenny. They had 7 children: Thomas b.1829, Kilkenny; Sarah bapt. 21 Aug 1831 at Boula, Gowran; John b.1832, Kilkenny; Margaret bapt.11 Aug 1833 at Boula, Gowran; William bapt. 21 Feb 1836 in Gowran; Peter bapt.3 Apr 1837; & Martin b.abt.1841, Castlewarren?.  Martin is my geat-grandfather. Sarah went to Australia in Apr 1854; Margaret, her brother John & his wife Anastatia Murphy of Grangehill, went to Australia in Oct 1856; Agnes, Thomas, Peter & Martin went to Australia in Mar 1858. Agnes was noted as a 'widow' so her husband William must have died, but when and where is unknown. Nothing is known on what happened to the son William bapt.1836. John Salter & Anastatia Murphy, bapt.4 Jan 1823 at Gowran, were married in Pitt & Castlewarren, Clara, on 28 Nov 1855 and both were living at Grangehill, Clara, at the time. I am travelling to Kilkenny in late August and am trying to find out more about my Irish ancestors before I go. I will be staying in Kilkenny for 3 days. Any information on the Salter's or Murphy's will br greatly appreciated. Thank you. I live in New Zealand.
