Sarah Healy, my great-great grandmother, emigrated from Ireland to Boston as a child in the late 1840's. She later married Daniel McCarthy, who had emigrated from County Cork, and lived in South Boston. Their first child, Thomas Francis Michael McCarthy, was born in 1863, and their youngest, Hannah T. McCarthy, my great grandmother, was born in 1871.
I would be very grateful for any information regarding Sarah Healy's place of birth and family in Ireland.
Sincerely,
Peter Myette

Hello Peter,
thank you for your message - as our programme has only begun to roll out across the island of Ireland, volunteers for this area are not yet organised but we will get to you.
Please post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
I will see what I can find out in the meantime.
Kind regards,
Dolores O?Shea

Hello Peter,
Have you looked at the passenger lists to try and find your sarah healy? www.castlegarden.org lists one sarah healy aged 11years arriving to new york. She arrived on 13 april 1850. I then put in the name healy and the 1850 date to see if any other healys travelled with her. there was a james and Maria as parents and other siblings.
Did she arrive directly to Boston? There are 4 sarah haealys arriving into boston but these records are on ancestry.com.
You will find church records for a sarah healy at www.irishgenealogy.ie and www.rootsireland.ie
It's very difficult to place her when you don't have a county from where she came and no parents information.
all I could suggest to you now is to go back step by step , birth cert to marriage cert for your graqndparents and g grandparents and try to get some more information. Trawl through the passenger lists.
The names Thomas Francis michael could lead you in a particular direction as children were mostly named after grandparents.
Sorry I cant be of more help at the moment,
Regards,
Anne
