Has anyone ever searched these 2 schools?  These school names were provided by the archivist at Kerry library in Tralee.  I need help on where I might research these records if they are even available. The children lived with their family in Scarteen, Dunkerron South in County Kerry

Derreen School (situated in Derreenfinlehid townland), which was in the neighbouring district to the east of Scarteen; & Derreendaragh National School (situated in Derreendaragh townland), which was in the neighbouring district to the south of Scarteen.     Thank you.

  • Dear Sheryl:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I would recommend that you make contact with the local parish office as often, if the parish office did not keep the records for schools that closed, the local national school has kept the records.  There is a link here for the primary schools in County Kerry and you might take note:  https://www.irelandstats.com/primary-schools-in-kerry/

I will forward this post to a few of our Kerry volunteers to see if they have any further information

The best of luck with your research.

    Kind regards,

    Jane
